Applied Stylistics: Symposium on Friday 6th May 2022
Following the success of our 2021 symposium, we are delighted to
invite proposals for a one day hybrid event on Friday 6th May 2022.
We are looking for proposals for twenty minute papers from
researchers whose work comes under the broad umbrella of ‘applied
stylistics’.
We are taking ‘applied’ to cover a wide range of work that
investigates any external-facing issue through the use of stylistic
methods and approaches and thus may examine different kinds of
texts and datasets. Papers might explore areas that include, but are not
limited to
• literary and language education
• professional and creative writing
• reading and culture
• stylistics and law
• stylistics and health communication
• stylistics and politics
• stylistics and translation
We are particularly keen to receive proposals from ECRs and doctoral
researchers.
Abstracts (maximum of 200 words, excluding references) should be
submitted to m.giovanelli@aston.ac.uk and c.harrison10@aston.ac.uk
by Monday 7th February 2022. Please indicate if you submitting a
proposal for a paper to be delivered in person or online.
